I am pleased to inform you that after 5 days of mediation, December 5-9, 2012, AAPS has entered into a preliminary collective agreement with UBC. The negotiating committee recommends ratification of the agreement. All active members, including those currently on leave, have the right to vote. If you have personal contact with a colleague on leave, please inform them of the ratification vote. You can access the information on our website at www.aaps.ubc.ca or by email at the AAPS Office. The amount of termination can be reduced by mutual agreement between a staff member and his or her supervisor. The employees of Point Grey Campus as trades, food and hospitality services, technicians and research assistants, as well as in various positions covered by schedule A. CUPE 116`s CUPE 116 agreement, also represents aquatic Centre staff under a separate collective agreement. To check on updates to previous rates, I read the Collectives Bargaining News, I am pleased to announce that the UBC Board of Governors has ratified the new collective agreement. We appreciate the speed with which the university was able to ratify the new agreement. In the coming days, we will be sending you details of the information sessions that AAPS will be holding to discuss the agreement in detail and answer your questions. Electronic voting will begin at the end of the week and continue until January 4, 2013. While we are aware that the voting period coincides with part of the Christmas holidays, we believe there is sufficient time to review the agreement and vote electronically.
